I remember reading in someone’s blog post somewhere that they would be against the idea of parents being able to select against a “trans gene” (whenever it’s discovered and gene-editable). The reason being, trans becomes another poor people thing, and the community will get smaller and smaller and separated by social class.

I thought about it for some time. Isn’t that just the natural order of things? It’s like today’s American healthcare: sure, rich people are the only ones who can afford certain things. But the unavoidable inequality doesn’t mean we should stop advancing medicine. There is nothing inherently wrong with being trans, just like there is nothing wrong with many medical conditions. All the same, I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.
